Our Philanthropy: Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention
We are committed to bringing awareness to child abuse and prevention locally, across the nation, and the world. Children are the future and we believe we have an obligation to protect and promote the safety and well being of children. Our philanthropy is not limited to raising money through donations, we understand that this issue needs direct and hands on time and energy to combat. Therefore, DKD Epsilon works with community centers such as Crisis Nursery, Cunningham's Children's home, and more to make it our mission to translate our philanthropy into actionable steps and volunteering. Our philanthropy and service is the basis of our organization, without this aspect Delta Kappa Delta would not be what it is today.
C.H.I.L.D Week - Changing Hope into Lasting Difference
Child week is a week in April that we host, dedicated to educating the students of UIUC about the issue of child abuse. During this week, we conduct our awareness campaign where we work with organizations such as Prevent Child Abuse America to run the "Pass the Pinwheel" campaign. We also host speaker events with local children's homes, fundraisers, and a day of service dedicated towards helping children. All of the money collected goes to a selected organization in the local area. In the past, we have donated money to Cunningham Children's Home, CASA, and Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.
